On Tuesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain faced Istanbul Basaksehir.

Interrupted after 13 minutes, the match did not resume until the next day.

A situation that disrupted the production and broadcasting work of RMC Sport, in charge of the match, as explained on Europe 1 by its editorial management.

"A race against time".

This is how Rodolphe Massé, editorial director of RMC Sport, defines Tuesday night and Wednesday day.

On Tuesday evening, the PSG-Basaksehir Champions League match was interrupted in the 13th minute, due to racist behavior by one of the referees.

It only resumed on Wednesday evening: an upheaval for the channel responsible for the production and broadcasting of the match, as explained on Europe 1 its editorial management, Rodolphe Massé.

The situation on Tuesday evening was completely new since the players of both teams left the field.

It was at the request of RMC Sport that the match resumed the next day at 6:55 p.m., because the OM-Manchester City match was held the same evening at 9 p.m.

This emergency device forced the chain to mobilize its production teams again overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.

"Everyone has worked hard to make the device available on Wednesday evening, some have not slept," thus illustrates Rodolphe Massé.

A "significant additional cost" for the chain

The mobilization of the teams was all the more important as when RMC Sport produced a Champions League match, it also produced the signal for all the broadcasters.

"Which means a hundred people mobilized, between the production of the match and our private TV set," said the editorial director of the channel.

"Among this hundred people, some were not available Wednesday, because they were already employed on other events on that date."

The chain had relocated its set to the Parc des Princes, which allowed it to be as close as possible to the events, but which also had a cost.

And this cost increased, since we had to stay on site for one more day.

"We did not double the cost of the evening, because the technical installations were already there," said Rodolphe Massé.

"The additional cost is not yet quantified, but it is sure that it will be significant."

RMC hopes to be able to discuss with UEFA, so that it covers part of the costs.

But the course of events on Tuesday evening is not provided for in the texts of the organization.
