It is a text that has been announced for months.

It was presented this morning (December 9, 2020) to the Council of Ministers in France.

First, the executive spoke of the fight against communitarianism, then of a law against separatism, and finally of a law reinforcing the principles of the Republic.

The stated goal: to fight against radical political Islamism.

Publicity

This law, explains Prime Minister Jean Castex, is not against religions and in particular not against Islam, but it is intended to respond to a concern of part of the public after Islamist attacks, and also to fill certain legal loopholes.

Separatism law, political display or real change?
