, on a policewoman in Montrouge, and on the mini-market Hyper Cacher, killed 17 people.

A verdict is expected on December 16.

The main people responsible for the attacks, the Kouachi brothers and Amédy Coulibaly, are dead.

In the box of the accused, 14 people, tried for having provided logistical support to the terrorists.

Five years in prison for life imprisonment were required on Tuesday noon against the accused, including Ali Riza Polat.

Historical trial

This trial is historic in several respects: It is the first trial in the wave of attacks that brought mourning to France in 2015. Rarely, it is fully filmed because of its "interest in the constitution of historical archives", according to justice.

It also takes place in an extraordinary health and safety context.

The Covid-19 epidemic disrupted the conduct of the hearings, leading to suspensions or questions about wearing the mask.

On the security front, there were three attacks in France during this trial, two of which were directly linked to the cartoons republished by

Charlie Hebdo

.

Word of the victims

Caroline Politi and Hélène Sergent return in this first part to the first three weeks of the trial, devoted to the civil parties.

They tell of the work of sorting and transmitting information, the words of the many victims, including those who say they are "invisible" ... They also evoke the "explosion" that terrorism causes in the lives of hundreds of people, events that arise in the banality of everyday life and destroy lives.
