Early in the morning of the 7th, a wooden cargo ship was found burning off the coast of Osakikamijima Town, Hiroshima Prefecture.

Since two men are on board the ship and cannot be contacted, the Japan Coast Guard is searching for the whereabouts and is conducting fire fighting activities.

According to the Kure Maritime Security Department, after 5 am on the 7th, residents reported that "the ship seems to be burning near Osakikamijima Town".



When the Japan Coast Guard took out a patrol boat and investigated it, it was found that a fire broke out from the ship about 1.4 km west of Okushi, Osakikamijima-cho.



The ship was a wooden freighter "Fukui Maru" operated by Kato Kaiun in Hiroshima City, and was heading from Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture to Otake City.



According to the company, the ship has a man in his 70s as a captain and a man in his 60s as a crew member, and they are not in contact with each other.



The Japan Coast Guard is searching for the whereabouts of the two and dispatching three patrol boats to extinguish the fire.
