From the 7th, Kanagawa Prefecture has set a new standard for doctors to judge the necessity of hospitalization by scoring age and medical conditions in order to reduce the number of people hospitalized with the new coronavirus and maintain the medical care provision system. Introduced.

In Kanagawa Prefecture, in principle, all people aged 65 and over and people with specific illnesses were hospitalized even if they were mild or asymptomatic, but the new standard will first score the risk of becoming severe.

Specifically, 2 points will be given for those aged 65 and over, and 3 points will be given for those aged 75 and over, and additional points will be added depending on the severity of symptoms and whether there is an underlying illness such as diabetes.

On the other hand, if you are asymptomatic, you will get -1 point, and a total of 5 points or more is a guideline for hospitalization.

The doctor will make the final decision based on this standard, so if you do not need to be hospitalized, you will be treated at an accommodation facility or home prepared by the prefecture.

According to this standard, the prefecture may reduce the number of newly hospitalized people to about half.

Dr. Hideaki Anan, the prefectural medical crisis countermeasures officer who led the creation of new standards, said, "We have decided to review the standards in order to secure beds for people who really need to be hospitalized. I think it would be useful if there were standards. For those who were not hospitalized, health centers and others are still checking the situation diligently, but in the future, we will provide more equipment to measure the oxygen concentration in the blood and treat them with peace of mind. I want to be able to do it. "
