Federal Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) is planning a state reimbursement of costs for events that would have to be canceled in the second half of next year due to the corona pandemic.

With this measure, he wanted to encourage the concert organizers to get started again, otherwise the pandemic would be over at some point and there would still be no more concerts, said Scholz in an interview with the "Tagesspiegel".

The federal government wants to make all expenses billable, "which were made in optimistic expectation and cannot be realized due to Corona restrictions," Scholz told the newspaper.

"Anyone who is planning events like this in the second half of 2021, which unexpectedly have to be canceled, should get a replacement." The measure should "get the whole machinery back on track with the many self-employed soloists and musicians" .

In addition, according to the newspaper, he is working on a funding program that is intended to support cultural events that can only be attended by a limited audience due to the Corona restrictions and are therefore not economical.
