The mayor of Saint-Etienne Gaël Perdriau (Les Républicains) asked the ARS Auvergne Rhône-Alpes on Saturday to explain the establishment of massive screenings both in his city and on a regional scale, seeing there a contradiction ".

The government's specifications stipulate that "a territory is only eligible if" no other operation of this type has yet been launched "", writes Gaël Perdriau, also president of Saint-Etienne Métropole, in a letter addressed to the director of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes regional health agency, Jean-Yves Grall, whom AFP was aware of.

Screening in the metropolis in mid-January

“The ARS, which selected the Saint-Etienne metropolis, also validated the massive regional screening plan which will be launched from December 16 to 23 in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, the mayor told AFP.

I am waiting for her to answer me on this apparent contradiction, ”he added.

Gaël Perdriau specifies that the large-scale screening announced by the government in the metropolis of Saint-Etienne (405,000 inhabitants) will take place "in mid-January, to prepare for deconfinement".

"It will be followed by a second campaign of massive tests two to three weeks later," he said.

The operation carried out on the initiative of the region is scheduled for December 16 to 23, according to its president Laurent Wauquiez.
