Coronavirus: France records 216 new deaths in 24 hours in hospital (Archives) -

The number of hospital deaths caused by the coronavirus was down again on Saturday, with a total of 216 dead in the past twenty-four hours.

The other health data also indicate, for the moment, a slight decrease in the epidemic, according to figures published by Public Health France.

Since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, 54,981 people have died in France, including 37,822 in hospital.

Note that the number of registered deaths is often lower on weekends.

A little more than 3,200 patients in intensive care

The hospitals had 3,220 patients in intensive care or intensive care units, including 125 admissions in the last 24 hours.

These departments had 3,283 patients the day before and 3,765 seven days ago.

All departments combined, 26,040 hospital beds were occupied by Covid patients, including 1,019 who had arrived twenty-four hours ago.

A week ago, hospitals had 28,139 Covid patients.

The positivity rate (proportion of the number of positive people compared to the total number of people tested) remained stable compared to the previous day, at 10.7%.

It was 11.4% a week ago.

The number of new cases of contamination confirmed in the last twenty-four hours was 12,923, against 11,221 the day before.
