"All happiness is not without troubles, and all adversities are by no means hopeless." When in adversity, many people like to use this sentence to encourage themselves.

In the Tang Dynasty many years ago, there was such a person. His initial life could only be described as "miserable": at the age of 40, he was still running around to seek life, and at the age of 50 he saw no improvement in his career.

But he never gave up hope, and finally became one of the most dazzling frontier poets in the Tang Dynasty, and he also realized the ideals of many ancient scholars to "Fenghou".

This person is Gao Shi.

From staying in Chang'an to traveling north to Yanzhao

Gao Shi was born in a family of officials, but his father passed away relatively early and his family was lagging behind, and his native family could no longer give him much help.

He can only study hard and realize his ideal of making contributions with his talents.

At the age of 20, he was already well-known for his poems and went to Chang'an to seek an opportunity to become an official. However, he was a "shame preparatory course" and did not take the road of imperial examination.

When I was young, Gao Shi looked at life very idealistically, and always felt that as long as he had real talents, he would show his ambitions sooner or later.

He wrote in "Biewei Joining the Army": "Twenty Jieshu Swords, Journey to Chang'an City to the west. Look up at the gate of the emperor, and take the public with your fingers."

But getting ahead is not easy.

At that time, Chang'an City was a place where individuals gathered together. After wandering for a while, Gao Shi did not get a chance to stand out, so he returned to Song City and lived a life of self-reliance. In this semi-reclusive state, he Maintained for several years.

Nearly standing in the middle of the year, Gao Shi felt that he could no longer squander like this, so he threw away his hoe and began his travel career.

This was not uncommon at the time, and many famous poets in the Tang Dynasty had similar experiences.

It's just that the journey of Gao Shi is not just a tour of mountains and rivers, but a more purposeful journey: a trip to Yanzhao.

Also in the frontier fortress, he saw another world besides singing and dancing.

Thoughts of a frontier poet

It should be said that the purpose of Gao Shi's visit was not simple. In addition to gaining knowledge and making friends, he also hoped to be able to work in the shogunate of Youzhou Jiedu, Zhang Shougui and others. Unfortunately, he still did not succeed.

The flames of the frontier fortresses, but also greatly opened up the horizon of high adaptability.

He wrote a large number of frontier fortress poems, such as "Shogunate of Xin'an King", "Five Poems of Jimen", etc., describing the scenery of the frontier fortress and the pride of soldiers.

Among them, the famous one is "Yan Ge Xing", a sentence "The soldier is half dead before the army, and the beauty is still singing and dancing", which denounced the generals' arrogance and underestimation of the enemy and not knowing the compassionate soldiers. This poem is also known as the frontier poem of the Tang Dynasty. Masterpieces in China, passed down through the ages.

Songzhou Governor Zhang Jiugao felt that Gao Shi was a rare talent and quickly recommended him.

This time, Gao Shi was awarded the post of Fengqiuwei, and one of his tasks was to "send soldiers."

He sighed in "Feng Qiu Zuo", "Just say that Xiaoyi does nothing, and public Pepsi has a period of time. It is sad to worship the chief, and it is sad to flog Li Shu." The official position is small and there are many chores. The sir and bullying the people are against their will and painful. Obviously, they are far away from the ideal of "bearing the public by condemnation".

Gao Shi couldn't bear it anymore and decided to resign.

At this time, he was almost 50 years old. His career had not improved, but he did not intend to admit his fate. Instead, he visited Chang'an again and finally got the invitation of the famous general Shuhan to enter his shogunate in the fall and winter.

A life of counterattack

Perhaps, Gao Shi's life is destined to be unstable.

In 755 AD, the "Anshi Rebellion" broke out.

In June of the following year, the Anlushan rebels captured Tongguan. After several life and death struggles, Ge Shuhan was defeated and captured.

Instead of surrendering, Gao Shi rode a fast horse and caught up with Tang Xuanzong who was fleeing.

He stated the reasons for Ge Shuhan's defeat, and suggested that Tang Xuanzong moved west to Shu to escape the war as a stopgap measure.

Sure enough, the war did not spread to the middle of Shu. Xuanzong was very happy, and soon he was promoted to serve as a servant.

Years of travels through the frontier fortresses have made Gao Shi very prescient.

Earlier, Tang Xuanzong "divided towns by kings", he had tried his best to persuade him, thinking that this was absolutely impossible.

Later, Yongwang Li Lin raised troops in Jiangdong, Tang Suzong remembered Gao Shi's opinions, and summoned him to plan how to counter the rebellion.

Gao Shi took the opportunity to analyze the situation carefully and judged that King Yong would be defeated.

After the proposal was adopted, Gao Shi was named the Huainan Jiedu Envoy and led his troops to put down the "Eternal King's Rebellion."

His talent was finally revealed, and his career path became smoother and smoother. Although there were occasional twists and turns, he had basically been trusted by the emperor, and he was able to enter the seven hundred households of Bohai County.

At this point, Gao Shi ushered in the highlight moment of his life. The once impoverished poet finally realized the dream of countless scholars and perfect counterattack.

In the first year of Yongtai, Gao Shi, who has become famous, passed away.

"Old Tang Book" said: "Generous tragic song, nostalgic for the past. Tang has come, and the poet is only suitable."

In fact, on the road to realizing his ideals, he also experienced many twists and turns, even a bit more miserable than others. The first 50 years of his life were unremarkable, with repeated defeats.

The difference is that others may choose to give up, and sincerely love the landscape.

However, Gao Shi did not change his ambitions in the most difficult time. The poem still reveals open-mindedness and heroism, "Don't

worry about the road ahead and no confidant, no one in the world knows the king.

"

His poems hide the ambitions of his life.

Therefore, later talents will comment, "High talents are talented, quite ambitious. His poetry is not good at learning, although he is not small and exquisite, he is ultimately a great talent."

What's more valuable is that, after occupying a high position, Gao Shi did not change his "frustrated" character, even if he offended people because of it.

It can only be said that if someone can be favored by fate, it is never accidental.
