The services of the prefecture of Hérault did not respond to requests from

20 Minutes

to explain the reasons for this ban.

A call not to protest from the ICC

This decision comes as Thursday, André Deljarry, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hérault, had questioned the prefect, to urge him to prohibit access to the city center to demonstrators, not to not penalize traders.

The day before, the president of the consular chamber had called not to demonstrate in the Ecusson, “at a time when traders have just reopened their doors”.

"The survival of our businesses is at stake," André Deljarry had scolded.

“These decisions are inadmissible and heavy with meaning within the framework of the social movement against the global security law, reacts the Unitary Union Federation (FSU) of Hérault.

The prefect thus provides confirmation that the rule of law is violated.

[…] Associations and trade unions are part of a legal framework which should allow the social movement to express itself in serenity.

The Prefect will bear all the responsibility in the event of an event the outcome of which could be uncontrolled.
