On December 3, after four days of drainage operations, the vault of the underground roadway of Yuanjiangshan Coal Mine was exposed to the surface of the water, and rescuers entered the underground to conduct search and rescue operations.

  At about 10 o'clock on December 3, more than 40 rescuers went deep into the underground from the main shaft of Yuanjiangshan Coal Mine with overhead miner's lamps, back breathing apparatus, and rescue equipment.

They have overcome many difficulties and obstacles, and carried out investigations, dredging and search and rescue.

"The water in the roadway has basically been drained, and we are constantly expanding the search area." A rescue team member who participated in the search and rescue in the underground told the Xinhua News Agency reporter.

  At around 11:30 on November 29, a water leakage accident occurred in the Yuanjiangshan Coal Mine in Leiyang City.

After the accident, Hunan Province set up a rescue headquarters as soon as possible. More than 920 people from emergency, mine rescue, geology, firefighting, security, medical, power, communications and 14 rescue and support teams inside and outside the province were fully rescued.

  At the mine, more than 20 ambulances and a large number of medical staff from multiple hospitals are on standby.

It is reported that the local medical institution has formulated a detailed treatment plan for the past medical history of the trapped persons and the situations that may occur after exiting the well.

  As of 22:00 on December 3, rescuers of Yuanjiangshan Coal Mine's flooding accident have not found any missing miners underground.

Zheng Shitian, chief expert of China Coal Science and Industry Corporation Xi’an Research Institute Co., Ltd., who participated in the guidance of the rescue, said that the Yuanjiangshan Coal Mine is a small coal mine. The rescue work is very difficult due to the unclear goaf area, large shaft slope and narrow underground tunnels. The key to the next rescue effort will be to continue to open up the "passage of life."
