Regarding influenza, which is feared to be a simultaneous epidemic with the new coronavirus, the number of cases reported in the week up to the 29th of last month was 46 nationwide, which is significantly lower than usual.

The National Institute of Infectious Diseases has shown no signs of an epidemic so far, but continues to call for attention to future epidemics.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the number of influenza patients reported by about 5,000 medical institutions nationwide during the week up to the 29th of last month was 46, the same as the previous week.

Influenza is said to enter the "national epidemic season" when the number of patients per week per medical institution exceeds one in the whole country, but at present it is 0.009.

The number of reported cases decreased by 2 from 19 prefectures in the previous week to 17 prefectures.

According to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, there are thousands to more than 10,000 reports every year at this time of year, which is significantly less than usual.

However, since the time of influenza epidemic varies from year to year, the National Institute of Infectious Diseases is calling for continued attention to future epidemics, although there are no signs of an epidemic so far.
