and his replacement at the head of the Headquarters of the State will be the theme that will address the

series 'El Emerito'

, a project that

Mediaset Spain

will shoot in 2021 and that it will produce in collaboration with

Mandarina Producciones

.

"Fiction will focus on his figure, always media, during the last years in which he represented the State and in the environment of a post-economic crisis that began in 2008 that left a deep mark on Spanish society," as announced by the audiovisual group in a note this friday

Parallel to this series, Mediaset Spain has announced the production of a documentary in collaboration with

Unicorn Content

, which

It will consist of

six installments

and will address the

personal, emotional and political life of Juan Carlos I

from his childhood to the present day through

archive images

and

interviews

with people from his closest circle (former heads of the Royal Household, personal friends and aristocrats );

politicians and former presidents of our country;

and renowned journalists and experts at Casa Real.

In October 2014, Telecinco premiered

'El Rey', the first biopic about the figure of Don Juan Carlos.

The three-part miniseries recreated the life of Juan Carlos I from his arrival in Spain at the age of ten until the beginning of his reign, with a narrative axis focused on the intense relationship between the monarch and his father, Don Juan de Borbón, in the difficulties they had to go through until Franco specified the terms of his succession and in the tension that between them generated uncertainty about the continuity of the dynasty.

Directed by Norberto López Amado

and with a script by Santos Mercero, the actor

Fernando Gil

played him in his youth and maturity stage and the actors

Enrique Aragonés

and

Patrick Criado

gave life to Juan Carlos as a

child and adolescent, respectively.

The cast was completed with

José Luis García-Pérez

playing Don Juan de Borbón,

Cristina Brondo

in the role of Doña Sofía,

Adriana Torrebejano

as an Italian aristocrat with whom a young Juan Carlos fell in love in the 1950s;

Marta Belaustegui

as Doña María de las Mercedes;

and

Paco Merino

as Francisco Franco, among other biographical characters.
