Five new regions have come to join in the referral to the Council of State against the government's decision to close the ski lifts for the Christmas holidays, as part of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, announced Thursday the initiator of this approach, Laurent Wauquiez (LR).

The referral is now supported by Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Grand-Est, in addition to Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes which finances this appeal, said its president.

"Support from all political stripes"

“The freedom summary was filed this evening (Thursday) by our lawyer.

It is a real movement which is being set up with support from all political stripes, ”welcomed the former President of the Republicans.

Fifteen departments also support this approach: Ain, Alpes de Haute-Provence, Hautes Alpes, Maritime Alps, Ariège, Cantal, Haute-Garonne, Isère, Loire, Haute-Loire, Hautes Pyrénées, Pyrénées Orientales, Savoie, Haute Savoie and Vosges.

Decision expected in a few days

"For us", the ban on operating ski lifts in resorts is "an illogical decision which is not based on health criteria," noted Laurent Wauquiez.

The general and absolute ban is not legal.

There are other ways than the total closure of the lifts ”, he argued.

According to the entourage of the president of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the time limit for examining summary proceedings before the Council of State is in principle forty-eight hours.

A decision is therefore expected early next week.
