Covid-19: how will the vaccination campaign go?

The government's vaccination strategy will take place in three phases.

The vaccination campaign will begin at the beginning of January for a first stage, then from February until spring for a second and, finally, a third stage will take place in spring.

Each time, a gradual enlargement of the public concerned will be observed.

In total, France having a potential of 200 million doses, it will be able, said the Prime Minister, to vaccinate 100 million people.

Everything will be done free of charge, and not binding. 

A first phase of vaccination in nursing homes

The vaccination will primarily concern one million people, who will be administered the doses at best at the end of December, if not in January.

At this stage, people in nursing homes and their caregivers are concerned if they present a risk.

At that time, the vaccines developed by Pfizer / BioNTech and those developed by Moderna will be available.

A second phase for 14 million people

The second phase will take place from February until spring and will concern around 14 million people at risk: those over 75, then over 65, as well as caregivers over 50 or vulnerable, i.e. that is to say with comorbidities.

A general public vaccination campaign

In a third and final step, the government will organize a gradual opening up to the rest of the population, starting in the spring.

It will begin with people aged 50 to 64, then professionals in so-called "essential" sectors (education, food), vulnerable and precarious people, people confined in closed places and finally the rest of the population. the major population.
