Miss France is organizing for the election of the next winner an evening which will also celebrate the centenary of beauty contests in France.

Postponed to December 19 because of the health crisis, the evening will be extraordinary in more than one way, as explained in "Media Culture" Sylvie Tellier, director of the organization Miss France.

2020 will have been a year like no other in many ways.

And the election of Miss France is no exception to the rule.

The beauty contest will be held on December 19 on TF1, live from Puy du Fou.

Focus on four major points of the evening, thanks to the explanations of Sylvie Tellier, director of the organization Miss France and guest of

Culture Médias.

An unprecedented preparation

The preparation of this national election, in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, required many adaptations from the organization Miss France.

"The departmental elections were made via digital candidacies, then the regional elections took many forms: open air, in camera, SMS voting ...", lists Sylvie Tellier.

But it was once the regional Misses were elected that the organization took its most impressive form.

In order to avoid contamination and to guarantee the participation of each regional Miss, the organization has set up an "anti-Covid-19 bubble" around the participants.

"I left the candidates to come and see you, suddenly I will not be able to see them again before next Monday", explains Sylvie Tellier to Philippe Vandel in the studios of Europe 1. "I will have to follow everything again. the protocol for isolation, testing, etc. "

"The young women have been tested, isolated together, and all the people of the Miss France organization are tested to create this bubble and protect our election," adds the director of the organization Miss France.

A historic jury

If all these health precautions are taken, it is also because this year's election marks an important date: the centenary of beauty contests in France.

"In an exceptional year, we wanted an exceptional jury", announces Sylvie Tellier.

"So a 100% Miss France jury."

This is a first for the competition, which had already had a 100% jury, but never composed only of former Miss.

Usually there are 7 members of the jury, this year they will be 9, all former Miss, with the president of the jury Iris Mittenaere, our Miss Universe ", adds Sylvie Tellier." As they are extremely legitimate, they will vote until end, to elect Miss France 2021 with the public ".

A birthday while Miss

This ceremony will celebrate the centenary, not of Miss France, but of the arrival of beauty contests in France.

At the end of 1920 the first competition "The most beautiful woman in France" took place, which would become Miss France in 1928. Sylvie Tellier announced to celebrate this anniversary a flood of former Misses.

"30 former Miss France will be there on stage, they will open the ceremony", she reveals.

The director of the organization Miss France also publishes a book,

Miss France: 1920-2020

, which traces the hundred years of existence of these competitions.

Three big absent

This evening event will still have some notable absentees, starting with Geneviève de Fontenay.

"Yet we invited her, just as I had invited her to participate in the book ... Geneviève declined the invitation", regrets Sylvie Tellier, who devotes an open letter to her in her book.

"It's a shame, because she is part of the Miss France adventure. We would have liked to celebrate her, the French will miss her."

Two other missing ones should be noted.

First Miss Tahiti, whose election could not be held this year, because of the health crisis.

Then, Marine Lorphelin.

The Miss France 2013 and first runner-up of Miss World 2013 preferred not to be present this year, because her little sister is competing in the election.
