In 1961, Antonova became the director of the museum.

In 2013, she left the post of director of the museum and became its president.

Antonova is a full holder of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland (1997 - III degree, 2002 - II degree, 2007 - I degree, 2012 - IV degree), winner of a number of other Russian and international awards.
