This Saturday, November 28 was the 60th anniversary of the independence of Mauritania.

It was November 28, 1960. Independence proclaimed in the very recent capital, Nouakchott, by Mokhtar Ould Daddah.

Mohamed Aly Chérif was Secretary General of the Presidency under Moktar Ould Daddah, from 1969 until the coup d'état of 1978. Subsequently, he notably spoke out against the repression carried out against the Negro-Mauritanians, between 1989 and 1991. A great witness of the last decades in Mauritania, Mohamed Aly Chérif is the guest of Charlotte Idrac.
