The effect of toothpaste is no longer a business "talking about"

News from our newspaper (Reporter Yang Zhaokui) Some toothpastes claim that Helicobacter pylori has a bacteriostatic rate of 99.99%, some claim that it is "essential for teeth whitening and yellowing", and some claim that it can prevent tooth decay... A reporter from the Workers Daily found that The effectiveness of some toothpaste brands is very direct, but consumers do not know whether these toothpastes really have such effects.

On November 25, the reporter searched on the e-commerce platform and found that many toothpastes claimed that "H. pylori antibacterial rate was 99.99%", and their prices were much higher than ordinary toothpastes.

Take a certain brand of germicidal toothpaste on JD.com as an example. The price of this toothpaste is 56 yuan per pack (100g), which is several times higher than ordinary toothpaste.

However, because it claims to have "third-party professional organization testing", "won the Chinese invention patent" and publish the certificate, and is recommended by Internet celebrities, it is still sought after by many consumers. The cumulative evaluation of the toothpaste has exceeded 94,000.

However, the reporter consulted the customer service staff of the brand's toothpaste and learned that the toothpaste can destroy the living environment of HP (Helicobacter pylori) in the oral cavity, making it difficult for HP to survive.

For people who have been infected with Helicobacter pylori, using the toothpaste at the same time as medication has a positive auxiliary effect.

This is quite different from the "Helicobacter pylori inhibitory rate of 99.99%" advertised on the store homepage.

In this regard, some medical experts pointed out that Helicobacter pylori exists on the surface of the gastric mucosa of an infected person, while bactericidal toothpaste acts in the oral cavity. It is obviously unrealistic to inhibit Helicobacter pylori through this kind of toothpaste.

The reporter also found in the interview that in addition to sterilizing toothpaste, whitening toothpaste is also more common.

Some toothpastes claim "necessary for teeth whitening and yellowing", some claiming "deep stain removal, long-lasting whiteness", and some simply play the sign of "no money for whitening".

In addition, some toothpastes claim to prevent tooth decay.

Some consumers said that the toothpaste packaging and promotional pages are plausible, but after buying whitening toothpaste, the effect is still not obvious after brushing for a long time.

Some experts pointed out that the use of whitening toothpaste to whiten teeth mainly uses physical methods, that is, relying on the friction agent in the toothpaste to remove slight exogenous tooth pigmentation.

However, for the deep and stubborn coloring of teeth, the effect of brushing with whitening toothpaste alone is not obvious.

The reporter noted that on November 13, the "Toothpaste Supervision and Management Measures (Draft for Comment)" published by the State Drug Administration pointed out that toothpaste must not be explicitly or implied as having a medical effect, and that it must not contain false or misleading content.

The Cosmetics Supervision and Administration Regulations that will be implemented on January 1, 2021 list toothpaste as ordinary cosmetics, and stipulate that toothpaste can claim to have anti-caries, anti-plaque, anti-dentin sensitivity, and alleviate gum problems. But the prerequisite is that the toothpaste recorder must evaluate the efficacy in accordance with national standards and industry standards.

In this regard, some insiders pointed out that with the promulgation of the "Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Cosmetics" and related regulatory measures, what effect toothpaste has on earth is no longer just a business "talking" on the packaging or page.

At the same time, slogans such as whitening, treatment of oral inflammation, sterilization, and tooth decay can no longer be abused.
