China News Service, Beijing, November 26 (Reporter Gao Kai) After the National Day stall with the second highest box office in history, the box office of mainland cinemas fell all the way and fell into a long period of "calm" afterwards.

  How to view this "calm"?

When will the next movie climax come?

Under the epidemic situation, what challenges does the cinema line face?

Recently, a reporter from China News Agency interviewed Yin Hong, vice chairman of the Chinese Film Association and professor of the School of Journalism and Communication of Tsinghua University.

Regarding the current sluggish performance of the theaters, Yin Hong said that in a relatively short period of watching movies, the "calm" in November is normal. "This period is actually the off-season in theory. Generally speaking, this calm state. It will continue for a while."

Yin Hong pointed out that it is unlikely that the cinema will rely on the next Lunar New Year stalls to get out of the current downturn. “Before 2010, there were few theaters in China’s small and medium-sized cities. The Lunar New Year stalls were a big time. With the rise of stalls, it is difficult for the Lunar New Year stalls to climax.” Yin Hong said.

In Yin Hong's view, in addition to the "theoretical off-season", the reason for the current downturn is the lack of excitement from the head work.

Just a few months ago, the domestic blockbuster "Yu Bai" completed a strong rescue of the mainland theaters. Yin Hong believes that the leading role of the head film in the film market is very obvious.

"This driving effect is by no means limited to the box office of the film itself. The film market needs the head film to drive the audience's desire to enter the theater. With the desire to enter the theater, there will be more possibilities for choice." It is pointed out that in the recent period as a whole, the theaters here have lacked this kind of film with head influence.

"This makes the market too low. If you don't enter the cinema, you can't talk about choosing different movies." Yin Hong said.

Yin Hong pointed out that due to the impact of the epidemic, there is indeed a shortage of film supply. "In the past, domestic films and imported films could form a complementarity. When domestic films were not invested too much, imported films could fill up. In the past, imported films still played a leading role. Obviously, especially in first-tier cities, but this one is basically vacant this year."

Yin Hong also said that the so-called "film shortage" should be "temporary", "but what is worrying is that the insufficient supply will eventually affect the audience's viewing habits. People do not go to the theater for a long time. The daily desire to watch movies may gradually fade."

Yin Hong said bluntly, “I have never worried about the positive growth of the Chinese film market in the past 20 years, but this year’s special situation, if the supply of the entire film is really insufficient, people are not used to going to the cinema. It will hurt the entire movie market in a real sense.” He emphasized in this regard that it is necessary to strengthen the supply of movies, create a boom in movie theaters, and inspire audiences to maintain and expand movie-watching habits.

Yin Hong is very confident about the movie watching climax of the next theater line. "The Spring Festival file will undoubtedly break out again. On the one hand, the supply of films is very sufficient, on the other hand, the audience has just a need for watching movies. Both of these factors are available, so. You can rest assured that the Spring Festival stalls."

But he also pointed out again, “A Spring Festival file cannot save a year’s movies. In order to avoid a trough during the regular consumption period as much as possible, it is necessary to urge more good head movies to enter the market. At the same time, the introduction should be accelerated. More films will be put on the market as soon as possible." (End)
