In celebration of Kim Jang-cheol, the fact that'Kimjang Culture' was registered by UNESCO online is once again being recalled.

Our kimchi culture, prepared with kimchi for winter, was registered as an intangible human heritage at the 8th Intangible Heritage Committee held on December 5, 2013 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Although the 7th anniversary is approaching, it seems that many people still do not know this.

There are many cases of misunderstanding that'Kimchi', which is not a kimchi culture, is listed.

In fact, Korea has been striving to list'Kimchi' as an intangible human heritage, not the Kimchi culture.

However, due to Japan's "Kimuchi" disturbance, we had to face controversy over the tradition and be frustrated every time.

Kimchi is a processed food that adds malic acid or citric acid to give it a sour taste, and is completely different from kimchi, a fermented food.

In response, the Cultural Heritage Administration changed its strategy.

The candidate was not the food itself, but the culture of eating kimchi.

In the end, UNESCO unanimously decided to register, saying, “Through kimchi, we practiced the spirit of sharing among our neighbors and increased a sense of solidarity, identity, and belonging”.

In addition, the name'Kimjang; Making and Sharing Kimchi' was originally applied by the Cultural Heritage Administration. I changed it to give it a name.

As a result, the exact name of the registration becomes'Kimjang, Making and Sharing Kimchi in Korea'.

Kimchi is a cultural heritage in life that has been handed down to the whole people for hundreds of years.

Due to the nuclear familyization and changes in diet, the number of places where kimchi is prepared on a large scale as in the past is decreasing, especially this year, due to the corona 19 crisis, it is difficult for many groups to do kimchi.

However, the spirit of Kimchi, which realizes'values of sharing' by sharing affection with neighbors, is inherited in a way that fits the times and is expected to continue to be the pride of many Koreans.
