Apologies, and a touch of bad faith.

After making fun of the living conditions of a young actor and "these poor people who live in these small apartments", during an audition by Zoom (wrongly thinking to have cut his microphone), the director comes to s 'address to him in an open letter.

"I offer Lukas Gage a sincere and unvarnished apology for my offensive remarks, my unprofessional behavior during the audition and for not giving him the focus and attention he deserved," writes Tristam Shapeero, including the identity was not yet known.

While he qualifies his words as “unacceptable” and “insensitive”, the director still tries to turn the situation around to his advantage.

A different definition of the word "poor"

He explains that he held this hearing in the middle of August "after four months of confinement": "It was moving to see actors working so hard to win the few roles available and we [he and his colleagues] were deeply moved. by the passion of these young people in extraordinary circumstances.

According to him, the word "poor" was to be understood "in the sense which deserves sympathy, as opposed to any economic judgment".

"My words were spoken from a place where one really imagined what the actors had to endure, stuck in tight spaces, finding within themselves the means to give a performance which allowed them to win a role in these conditions" , he continues.

To conclude, Tristam Shapeero promises to be more empathetic, and to become a better collaborator.

How about hiring Lukas Gage?
