Go To Travel Cancellation by 3rd of next month at 1:24 on November 25th

The government has decided to exclude trips to Sapporo and Osaka, where the new corona virus is spreading, from Go To Travel until the 15th of next month.

We are calling for you to complete the procedure by the 3rd of next month to ensure that your reservation is canceled without paying a cancellation fee.

On the 24th, the government decided to exclude trips to Sapporo and Osaka from Go To Travel for three weeks until the 15th of next month.

In response to this, travel agencies and accommodation facilities will stop accepting reservations as soon as preparations such as system changes are made, and will accept cancellations of reservations on the homepage, telephone, stores, etc.

This time, we have decided to specially discount travel that departs by the 1st of next month in order to allow time for publicity about reserved travel.

On the other hand, if the reservation is canceled, the government will compensate the user so that it will not be burdened.

Specifically, as a general rule, we will compensate travel agencies and accommodation facilities by regarding 35% of the travel price as a loss.

However, in order to ensure that the reservation is canceled without paying the cancellation fee, we are urging users to complete the cancellation procedure by the 3rd of next month.

What it will be?

cancellation charge

What will happen to the cancellation fee if the trip is canceled due to this measure?

This time, Go To Travel will not be applicable to trips departing from Sapporo and Osaka by the 15th of next month.

If you have already booked, you will continue to receive a 35% discount for trips departing by the 1st of next month.

Reserved trips departing after the 2nd of next month are not eligible for the discount.

Therefore, if you plan to travel on time, you will need to pay an additional fee in addition to the travel price when you booked.

On the other hand, if the reservation is canceled, the government will compensate from the Go To Travel project cost so that the user will not be burdened.

Specifically, if the user completes the cancellation procedure by the 3rd of next month, the cancellation fee will not be charged by the travel agency or accommodation facility.

For trips canceled by the 3rd of next month, the government will in principle compensate travel agencies and accommodation facilities for 35% of the price as a loss.

For this reason, the Japan Tourism Agency is urging users to complete the procedure by the 3rd of next month in order to ensure that the reservation is canceled without paying a cancellation fee.

What about other areas?

The government says it will consider excluding Go To Travel if the infection spreads in other areas.

Shigeru Omi, chairman of the government subcommittee, said at a press conference on the 20th of this month that he would "think as an expert rather than a subcommittee," and that Tokyo and Aichi prefectures would also consider excluding them from Go To Travel. It shows the recognition that it is approaching "Stage 3".

The government plans to consider excluding areas other than Sapporo and Osaka based on a request from the governor, and plans to take the same measures as this time, such as handling cancellation fees.

This time, the trips to Sapporo and Osaka that depart by the 15th of next month are excluded.

Regarding the response after the 16th, we will work with the governors of Hokkaido and Osaka to determine the infection status.
