The August Prize's fiction category is considered to be the heaviest.

Two of the nominees are debutant Lydia Sandgren's "Collected Works" and veteran Klas Östergren's "Renegates".

"Will be something to hold on to at this time when everything is going so fast"

The two novels are real bricks - 690 and 746 pages respectively.

The generous number of pages is one of the reasons why the literary critic believes that Lyda Sandgren's debut has been so read.

- In the era of autofiction, people are very hungry for the epic.

This is an educational novel about the publisher Martin Berg and his missing wife, and you can follow them for almost 700 pages.

It becomes something to hold on to in this time when everything goes so fast, says Sara Abdollahi in Morgonstudion.

"There is a good chance he would be awarded this prize"

Klas Östergren's "Renegates" is the last part of the author's Gentlemen trilogy, which he hereby ends after 40 years.

The former Academy member has been nominated but has never before been awarded the August Prize.

- It would be fun, he is, as I said, a veteran.

There is a good chance he would be awarded this prize as well.

It is very exciting with these 150 pages in the novel about the Swedish Academy, that you get the inside perspective, says the literary critic.

The winners of the August 2020 Prize will be announced on Monday evening.
