The Goncourts will indeed be under the tree this year.

The 33rd Goncourt Prize for high school students will be proclaimed on Wednesday 2 December, two days after its big brother the Goncourt, following a videoconference meeting of a national jury of high school students, Fnac announced in a press release.

For two months, nearly 2,000 high school students from 56 classes have been engaged in reading the 14 novels selected by the Académie Goncourt.

This price is one of the most influential for book sales.

An announcement by way of press release?

As every year, the organization of the prize takes place in stages, so as to involve the students as much as possible and to create a form of emulation between them.

Due to the epidemic context, the traditional “regional meetings” between authors and high school students, the occasion for the latter to assail the former with questions, were organized virtually from November 5 to 13.

The high school students then deliberated in class and appointed a delegate to defend their favorite novels during regional deliberations, organized this Monday, November 23 by videoconference.

The final selection from these regional meetings will be announced at the end of the afternoon, the statement said.

For the final phase, a national jury made up of 13 high school students elected during regional deliberations will debate on December 2 behind closed doors and at a distance.

The winner of this popular publishing house award will be announced at midday.

Traditionally proclaimed in Rennes, the city where it was created more than 30 years ago, the Goncourt for high school students could be announced this time by means of a press release, said Fnac, co-organizer of the event with the ministry of 'National Education.

Last year, the novelist Karine Tuil was acclaimed by high school students with her novel
