The famous Chinese dance performance artist Chen Ailian died of illness in the early morning of November 21 at the age of 81.

The reporter learned from her daughter that Chen Ailian had previously been diagnosed with gastric cancer. "The course of the disease has progressed very quickly. When it was found, it was already in the advanced stage and bone metastases occurred."

  Chen Ailian is regarded as "a landmark figure in the history of contemporary Chinese dance".

She has starred in "Red Flag", "White Haired Girl", "Princess Wencheng", "Dream of Red Mansions" and other classic dance dramas in the history of new Chinese dance.

In 2019, 80-year-old Chen Ailian also played Lin Daiyu in the dance drama "A Dream of Red Mansions".

Reports at the time stated that during the two-hour performance, Chen Ailian completed difficult movements such as lower back, splits and continuous rotation.
