It will be paid a national tribute, and Bordeaux should recognize a monument, or a street to Daniel Cordier.

This is in any case what the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic assured this Sunday.

"The city of Bordeaux will naturally pay the tribute it deserves to Daniel Cordier, this great Bordeaux resident who at 20 was one of the first to join London" wrote the elected ecologist on Twitter.

The city of #Bordeaux will naturally pay the homage it deserves to Daniel Cordier, this great Bordelais who, at the age of 20, was one of the first to join London in June 1940.

Honoring France, he also honored his City .

It responds to the request of two Bordeaux political figures, the former mayor Nicolas Florian, and the former minister and deputy Michèle Delaunay, who had wished from Friday that a street or a monument in Bordeaux bear the name of the resistant, and former secretary of Jean Moulin, who died on Friday at the age of 100.

"Paying homage to Daniel Cordier in the city where he was born seems obvious to me"

The penultimate Companion of the Liberation Daniel Cordier, died Friday at the age of 100.

Jean Moulin's former secretary was born in Bordeaux on August 10, 1920. In June 1940, he decided to join the Free French Forces (FFL) camp and set off from Bayonne, heading for London.

I will suggest that a place in #Bordeaux bear his name to honor him.

Former mayor Nicolas Florian, now an opposition municipal councilor, asked on Twitter that a “place in Bordeaux bears his name”.

Same reaction from Michèle Delaunay, who was Minister Delegate for the Elderly under François Hollande, and Member of Parliament for the second constituency of Gironde.

“Paying homage to Daniel Cordier in the city where he was born seems obvious to me,” she says.

This magnificent “free French”, that was Daniel Cordier, was born in @Bordeaux 100 years ago.

I very much wish his city would pay him homage from the first street to his name. @ PierreHurmic @ BlancBernard1 @denislherm

The former mayor of Bordeaux, however, believes that the subject should be the most widely debated, with associations and citizens.
