[Explanation] Intelligent public toilet guidance system, code scanning toilet paper machine, intelligent management device...In Shanghai, technology has been integrated into the construction of "smart public toilets", and the public toilet experience has been continuously improved.

Recently, in the Xindu Road Water Culture Park, Zhuanqiao Town, Minhang District, Shanghai, a public toilet with an overtime alarm function triggered heated discussions.

On the afternoon of November 20, a reporter from China News Agency learned during a visit to this "smart toilet" that the built-in system will automatically detect the odor of the public toilet and turn on the exhaust system as needed.

At the same time, relevant statistical analysis can also be carried out through the flow of people, water consumption, power consumption, etc., which is convenient for the management department to optimize and adjust.

The overtime alarm system that has attracted attention this time is also an initiative of Minhang District in the exploration of the construction of "smart toilets".

A cleaner who works in the Water Culture Park told reporters that most of the elderly people come here to exercise on weekdays. The alarm is triggered after using the toilet for more than 15 minutes (900 seconds). The main purpose is to confirm whether the user has an accident. At the same time, citizens can be urged to leave as soon as possible after using the toilets to avoid occupying public resources for a long time.

  [Concurrent] Cleaner

The sirens screamed, we went in and asked him (her), yelled once or twice, how about you, master?

He said, oh, I got it.

  [Concurrent] Cleaner

There are also young people, they are playing on mobile phones, we went to call, they said (I) forgot, I am playing on mobile phones.

There are really few elderly people. When we asked, he (she) said that I was a little uncomfortable today. Then we called him (her). Master, if you open the door and then close it, the alarm will not sound.

[Explanation] The reporter found that after every citizen goes to the toilet, the cleaning staff will carefully record the time of use.

According to reports, the management of the toilet has conducted research on the public toilet time in advance, and will again make detailed statistics on relevant online discussions to confirm whether the 15-minute duration needs to be adjusted.

  [Concurrent] Cleaner

Some people report that 15 minutes is too short, so statistics say that 15 minutes are too few, or less than 15 minutes. The management asks us to write it down in order to adjust the time.

[Explanation] Zhang Haina, PhD in sociology from the Urban Development Institute of East China Normal University, said that the original intention is worthy of affirmation from the perspective of paying attention to people's health and safety or the scientific and rational use of public resources.

This reflects the high-level refined management of Shanghai, a modern city, and is a useful attempt to "build a people's city and people's city for the people".
