To support the reconstruction of Shuri Castle Bizen ware Shisa is on sale Okayama November 20, 0:24

In order to support the reconstruction of Shuri Castle in Okinawa Prefecture, a Bizen ware artist from Okayama Prefecture has decided to bake a Shisa figurine and use the proceeds from the sale as a donation.

The Shisa figurine was made by Mr. Tamafune Kimura, a Bizen ware artist from Ibe, Bizen City.

Mr. Kimura received a request from a group formed to support the reconstruction of Shurijo Castle in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, where the "Shoden" was burned down in the fire that broke out in October last year. I made about 30 figurines.

Shisa is about 10 to 30 cm in height and is made without using a mold, so each one has a different look.

Last month, it was baked in the climbing kiln of the workshop for 10 days, and it was baked in various colors such as bright vermilion and calm ocher.

Mr. Kimura himself said that he visited Okinawa almost every year for the exhibition of his works, "I was really sad when I learned that Shurijo Castle was burnt. I hope for the earliest possible recovery." I did.

From the 12th of next month to the 11th of January next year, Bizen ware Shisa will be sold in the exhibition space of "Lexus Okayama" in Okayama City, and all proceeds will be used to donate the reconstruction of Shurijo Castle.
