The executive hopes for "further relief" at the time of the Christmas holidays but is already warning: if the objective is that the French can spend "the end of the year holidays with their families", it will not be "reasonable to hope be able to organize large parties for several dozen people ".

In addition, a certificate to travel will always be necessary beyond December 1, even if the indicators of the epidemic improve.

The hope of December 1 for traders, 1,600 student jobs

Faced with the expectations of traders, who plead for a reopening, the Prime Minister indicated that "first relief measures" of the re-containment could take place on December 1 if the health situation improves but they would be "strictly limited to shops that we had to close ".

"Their reopening could only be considered on the basis of a reinforced protocol" and this first stage "cannot however concern other establishments open to the public or the risks of contamination are by nature higher, such as for example bars, restaurants and sports halls, ”he added.

Jean Castex also promised "massive support" for companies forced to close during the reconfinement as well as measures in favor of students, particularly affected by the period.

Thus, nearly 1,600 students would be recruited, from November to January, to support in universities "first year students" and students "the most in difficulty".

In the coming days each of the 800 university housing estates would have two student advisers to "strengthen the work of the CROUS", the Prime Minister said.
