During confinement, the Ministry of Ecological Transition authorized the taking of wild boar and deer and "exceptionally" other huntable species that could cause damage to crops.

But only for this purpose and at the request of the administrative authority.

Recreational hunting is prohibited.

But the National Federation of Hunters (FNC) and agricultural organizations want new exemptions to be put in place for hunting during confinement in order to limit damage to crops.

In a letter dated November 10, addressed to the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili and to the Minister of Agriculture Julien Denormandie, the FNC, the FNSEA, Young Farmers and the Chambers of Agriculture (APCA) ask that "at - beyond big game, it is imperative to have the same logic of regulation concerning the other species which cause agricultural damage according to the departments ”.

"These exemptions must be complementary to the administrative beatings decided by the prefects", he added.

Associations want to attack certain exemptions

Conversely, the Aspas nature protection associations and the Bird Protection League (LPO) consider that certain prefectural decrees go too far and denounce the attitude of certain departmental federations of hunters who have been slow to call their adherents to store rifles.

The LPO cites the example of Landes where the departmental federation called on November 8 "all hunters not to hunt", while Secretary of State Bérangère Abba had communicated on November 1 on the ban on hunting. recreational hunting, possible exemptions and that a decree was issued on November 6.

For its part, Aspas has identified around twenty departments which authorize "the hunting of wild boars, deer, ESOD (species of animals liable to cause damage) and other species".

"Chamois, mouflon, cormorants are of particular concern to us," said Madline Rubin, director of Aspas.

The association, with the LPO, intends to attack about twenty prefectural decrees, she said.
