New publications documenting poetry, fashion and music in Emirati heritage

Among the publications hosted by the Sharjah International Book Fair in its 39th session, the most recent publications dealing with Emirati heritage are prominent, as some publishing houses specialize in issuing books related to Nabati heritage and poetry, while some heritage centers and institutions initiate the issuance of books by researchers specializing in heritage.

The Emirati heritage books are distributed on examining the history of some ancient traditional expressions and customs, or documenting ancestral stories and their narrations about the popular memory of the life of the coast, desert and mountains, while some books specialize in standing at the names of experiences of folk poetry, and present contemporary readings in them, along with what appears in return for that. Among the most recent publications, the Sharjah Heritage Institute presents a selection of new publications for this year, including the book "Dictionary of Tools in Emirati Heritage" by Dr. Hamad bin Saray and Ali Al-Mughni, and deals with all equipment that was used in the past in transportation, construction and agriculture, in addition to the various tools that were used. The book presents everything related to women's fashion and adornment at weddings, holidays and various occasions, in addition to the tools used in women's adornment, such as kohl, henna and combing hair.

The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage publishes a book entitled “The San'a” by the author Abdullah bin Dalmouk, through which it sheds light on the list of inherited Emirati customs, traditions and values. The Emirates Heritage Club presents in its 2020 editions the book “Horses are Heritage and Civilization in the United Arab Emirates” prepared by Shamsa Hamad Al Abd Al Dhaheri, and the Center also publishes the book “Folklore in the Emirates Society” by Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Melhem, which discusses social life, cultural life and culture. “The Poetry Academy” is presenting among its latest publications the book “The Compendium of Ozan Al Nabati Poetry” by Dr. Ghassan Al-Hassan.

The publications of the Poetry Academy also include the book “Our Heritage of Popular Poetry” compiled and verified by Hamad Khalifa Abu Shehab, which is the second part of the same title. In addition, the Academy presents the book “The Emirati Song, Its Origin and Development,” by Muayad Al-Shaibani.
