Who will stop the reigning African champions?

After two days and two victories, Algeria was at the head of Group H. Here it is with a third success in the framework of these qualifiers of the CAN 2021. If the first thirty minutes were a little boring, without counting the quarter hour late for the kick-off, the rest will be worthy of the rank of this team which has mastered its subject since the arrival of coach Djamel Belmadi.

Even if the Fennecs missed a few chances.

After a shot from Sofiane Feghouli from 25 meters repelled by the Zimbabwe goalkeeper, Baghdad Bounedjah, in the fox of surfaces, takes the ball and deceives the goalkeeper (31st).

Just before, the Al Sadd SC striker in Qatar had already attempted a shot on target.

Riyad Mahrez passer and goalscorer

Sofiane Feghouli takes advantage of a magnificent cross from Riyad Mahrez to double the bet with a diving header (43rd).

In less than 15 minutes, the Fennecs make the difference at the Stade du 5-Juillet.

However, we remember that during the CAN 2017 in Gabon, the Algerians were largely hooked by Zimbabwe during the group stage.

Mahrez had equalized late in the game (2-2) to avoid humiliation.

The first CAN 2017 meeting for the Algerians almost turned into a fiasco in Franceville.

Mahrez had saved the furniture.

We have been considered a great team for a long time, but I say we are not yet,

" Carl Medjani blurted out at our microphone.

Passer on the second goal, Mahrez offers his 17th selection goal tonight by playing against two defenders (67th).

In the 80th minute, Tino Kadewere still reduced the score for Zimbabwe.

Zambia earns its first points

Water has flowed under the bridges since the CAN 2017 and things have changed.

Today, the Greens have just offered their 21st victory in a row.

Algeria's last defeat dates back to October 2018 in Benin.

And after three days, they have almost one foot in the final phase of CAN 2021.

In the other meeting of this group, Zambia, winner of the CAN in 2012, scored its first three points against Botswana (2-0).

Tumisang Orebonye opened the scoring for Botswana but Zambia came back just before the break by Enock Mwepu.

After the break, Collins Sikombe doubled the bet for Zambia.
