Djibril Cissé was hiding under the costume of the skeleton in -

CHRISTOPHE CHEVALIN - TF1

  • During the fourth show of "Mask Singer", Diane Foly and Djibril Cissé were unmasked.

  • The footballer and DJ was hiding behind the skeleton costume.

  • Djibril Cissé answered questions from "20 Minutes" the day after his elimination.

If the viewers and the jury began to strongly suspect it, they had confirmation that Djibril Cissé was indeed hiding behind the skeleton's costume.

Just like the singer Liane Foly, the candidate was unmasked on Saturday evening during the fourth program of

Mask Singer

on TF1, after a last performance on

Tombé

de M. Pokora.

Passionate about music - he has also been a DJ for several years - the footballer marked the spirits thanks to his sense of the show and his remarkable flow, especially on the edgy

Can't Hold Us

by Macklemore.

The day after his elimination, Djibril Cissé answered questions from

20 Minutes

.

What do you remember from your participation?

But good !

I had watched the first season and told Camille [Combal] that if there was a second season I absolutely had to do it because I had really overdone it!

Of course he didn't weigh in the scales because he wasn't aware of my participation, so now I know I can't count on him!

(laughs) It was a real treat because it's so well done, the secret is kept from start to finish, from the moment they come to pick you up to go do the rehearsals, the recordings or the performances.

Nobody sees you!

You explained that you participated in the show, especially for your children.

What did they think of your performance?

I have three in England who have not yet been able to watch it, but my 19 year old daughter, who she sings and dances, she was surprised, she told me that I did not have a too disgusting voice so, it's OK !

And my son Gabriel, who is 5 years old, loved the character, the universe, the sets, the setting… And he was surprised to see that it was really me!

Is it more stressful to be on a soccer field or in front of the

Mask Singer

jury

 ?

Honestly, since you record the sounds early and validate them, you are happy with your song so you have a little less stress.

Live that would have been another problem.

But still a little stressed, of course, because it's not my job, I don't master singing, while football I train all week to produce a quality match.

I won't say more stressed, but just as much because it's new and something that I haven't mastered.

Jarry suspected early on that you were hiding under this costume.

What do you think betrayed you?

Frankly I do not know !

We have already seen each other with the four jurors but we don't know each other well enough for them to recognize me masked or disguised.

At the first one, I tried to be careful enough, but apparently not enough!

You should have seen my face under my mask when Jarry said my name, I was shocked!

Really !

I even think I must have made a little cry like “oh!

Then I told myself that they were going to move on and have another lead the next week but no, it was dead.

You had chosen the skeleton costume, was it a nod to your football fractures?

Not at all !

I really chose this costume for its joy, its good humor, its luminosity, it is solar!

Of course a skeleton is dead and is usually darker than solar, but this is one that children would like to have as a blanket.

After of course, there are links with the fact that I broke my legs, my bones… But that's really not why.

The jury and the viewers praised your sway and your showmanship, did you like it?

When we do a show, we still know each other a minimum and that's also why I chose the skeleton because he is bling bling, sure of himself, he has a cane, he is made for dancing, to set the mood , making people laugh !

And that's exactly what I wanted to bring on the show.

At the beginning there was a little time to adapt, the time that I got to know the people a little and that I took my marks, but then we have fun!

Your flow also wowed the jury.

Has being a DJ for several years helped you?

Yes especially on the first, on the Macklemore which has an incredible flow.

It's one of the star sounds in my set when I play it with my MC.

It was obvious, and I think there was no better sound to set the mood.

It was still necessary to work on it with the vocal coach, she gave me good advice, in particular not to get upset if I did not succeed.

This is what I tried to do and the result was not bad.

Did each of the songs you choose reflect a part of your personality?

Mackelmore is my set kif,

Sweet Dreams

is a sound that I love, we chose Marilyn Manson's version because I found it suited my voice a little dark and dark.

For

Wake Me Up,

it's also a sound that I love although it might surprise you, it might not be the kind of music people think I listen to.

And after the

Tombé

de M. Pokora, it was a nod to him because he is someone who is important to me and with whom I am very close.

Even if it means singing a song in French, as much as it is one of his own.

If it had to be done again, would you be up for it?

Of course !

With even more seriousness, even more attention to detail.

I wanted it to be really well done, for example the Macklemore we did it again I don't know how many times!

I could have told myself it was for fun, but I wanted to be happy with the thing, and I didn't mind doing it again several times because I loved it.

It's not even a question, I'll do it again tomorrow if you want, with less stress, because at the start it was still a little stressful.
