Twice a week, Tuesday and Friday evenings, the figures for the coronavirus in Occitania fall, communicated by the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

The latest data show that the epidemic is continuing its very strong progression.

Thus, in the space of three days, 212 additional people were hospitalized in hospitals in the greater region, bringing the total to 1,977 patients.

376 are in intensive care (+36).

And 1,107 deaths were recorded in hospitals (+87).

The figures for nursing homes, very affected by the disease, are not included in this report.

If we look at the evolution of the figures over a month, the observation is relentless.

488 people have died in hospital since October 6.

At that date, there were four times fewer hospitalized patients (491) and nearly three times fewer in intensive care (136).

HĂ©rault, Haute-Garonne and Gard the most affected

The most urbanized and populated departments are the most affected.

Friday, the HĂ©rault had 427 hospitalizations, including 85 in intensive care, and 279 deaths.

Against 405, 94 and 181 in Haute-Garonne, and 359, 81 and 179 in Gard.

In addition, the ARS said Friday that nearly 27,000 people had been identified as suffering from Covid-19 in Occitanie during the past week.

That is 19.5% of positive tests, against 18.7% three days earlier and 7.8% a month ago.
