After a seven-month hiatus forced by the coronavirus and only six programs as a presenter,

Gonzo

returns with

Saved

.

His intention: to consolidate himself as the host of the program created and produced by

Jordi Évole

while facing the difficulties imposed by the coronavirus.

After 12 years on the air, the format opens a new season this Sunday at 9:25 p.m. on La Sexta, addressing the health, economic and social management of the pandemic in Spain.

His main bait: a new frightened by Esperanza Aguirre, who will defend the management model of the Community of Madrid in a tense interview that he abandons mid-recording.

"We started with the issue that most worries the country

: how this virus can affect us and, if it attacks us, if we will have a health system that can attend to us," Gonzo explains.

"It is clear that we had to talk about the pandemic and we focused on Madrid because it has been the epicenter in the first and second waves. Not only in health, but also in the political row," says the presenter to EL MUNDO.

"We have tried to listen to health, and what has happened here is applicable to what has happened throughout the country: overwork and lack of preparation for the second wave," he says.

"We always try to tell stories with which anyone from anywhere in Spain can feel identified. And in this sense, Spain has never been so centralized: in terms of health and economic and employment uncertainty," he adds.

In the second program,

Salvados

will travel to Germany to find out how they are managing the crisis and speak with the Spanish doctors who work there

.

A good example of the difficulties that the program must face with the new normal.

"We did a PCR on the way out and an antigen control on the way back. When we rejoined the office, we tested for antibodies. At the time of recording we have to discard more material, such as the microphone protections. The interviews must be done with mask or two meters, so visually there will be more flat profiles, "explains Gonzo.

"It slows down and makes everything quite expensive. The protocols are very demanding. But luckily we have been able to go out, record and offer sanitary conditions so that everyone feels safe," Gonzo continues about the

Salvados

team

, which exceeds 50 people .

Continuing with the issues that the program and Covid-19 will address,

Yolanda Díaz will visit with Gonzo various work centers to listen to criticism of the Government of these workers

.

"We have convinced the minister of labor to approach with us those social realities that are going to suffer the most from the economic blow. Not to see them from the official car, but to go where those people are working or trying to find resources to listen to them and respond" says the presenter.

A year ago Gonzo began conducting

Salvados

occupying the position of Jordi Évole, who is still linked to the program as a producer through Producciones El Barrio.

This first season only had six shows, but Gonzo managed to maintain the rate with

an average of 1.5 million viewers and a

share

of 8.5%

.

"We were filming in Saint Petersburg and two days later we were locked up," says the journalist about the forced break last March.

This second installment of Gonzo will consist of 17 programs: "10 until mid-February, then Jordi will return" with

Lo de Évole,

coinciding with

the elections in Catalonia

, "and in spring we will return with another seven

Salvados

programs

until July", he explains.

"The first season was a coitus interruptus. In this second season we hope to consummate everything," he concludes.
