Submission of plan for Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant Unit 7 "Commercial operation in June next year" TEPCO November 6, 21:18

Regarding Unit 7 of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station in Niigata Prefecture, TEPCO has compiled a plan to put it into commercial operation in June next year and submitted it to the Nuclear Regulation Authority on the 6th.

This is the first time that TEPCO has set a schedule for restarting operations, but the consent of the local government is required and no concrete outlook has been given.

Regarding the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant, which TEPCO is aiming to restart, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission officially approved the "security regulations" on the 30th of last month, which clearly states the responsibility of the president for the accident, and the regulatory procedure has almost been completed.

TEPCO has indicated that it plans to complete construction work such as safety measures next month at Unit 7, which is ahead of preparations, and to undergo the necessary regulatory inspections before starting the reactor in April next year. Following this, on the 6th, we submitted a plan to the Regulatory Commission stating that the time to enter commercial operation was "June next year."

Regarding this, TEPCO states, "The process chart shown this time does not indicate the time of restart, and we will proceed with the understanding of the local community as a major premise when restarting."

In order for TEPCO to actually restart Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant Unit 7, the consent of the local government is required, and Niigata Prefecture is in the process of verifying the effectiveness of the evacuation plan for residents.

For this reason, there is currently no concrete outlook for a restart.
