(The 3rd CIIE) Observation of CIIE: Under the epidemic situation, why do "new people" get together at the CIIE?

China News Service, Shanghai, November 6 (Reporter Li Xiaoyu) The third CIIE is being held.

Although the epidemic has rebounded significantly in many countries, many companies that have not participated in the exhibition in the previous two years have arrived at this time.

Uniqlo, which participated for the first time, built a 1500 square meter "Museum of Tomorrow" at the CIIE, exhibiting many "Tomorrow's clothing", including a giant light down that is both light and portable, waterproof and anti-static, and integrated 3D Weaving art, "breathing" AIRism somatosensory adjustment fabrics and windproof and waterproof BLOCKTECH fabrics.

Wu Pinhui, chief marketing officer of Uniqlo Greater China, said that thanks to strong epidemic prevention and control measures, the daily lives of the Chinese people have gradually recovered.

Uniqlo hopes that through this exhibition, it can fully demonstrate its high-functional clothing with science and beauty, and better layout the Chinese market.

Japanese printer giant Epson is also exhibiting for the first time this year.

"We visited the first two CIIEs and felt China's determination to expand opening up and cooperation. We also found that the CIIE is an effective platform for in-depth communication between multinational companies and customers." Accepted Shen Shi Minghong, General Manager of Epson (China) Co., Ltd. In an interview, a reporter from China News Agency said that in recent years, Chinese society has paid more and more attention to green and low-carbon technology and its application and promotion. Epson hopes to take this CIIE to have a deeper understanding of the needs of the Chinese market and strengthen cooperation with Chinese companies.

Such "new faces" are not rare.

This year, dozens of global giants participated in the exhibition for the first time. For example, Richemont Group brought a group of luxury brands such as Cartier, Piaget, and Vacheron Constantin to the show; French Michelin Group also chose to join the exhibition two years later.

The exhibits brought by the "newcomer" are also quite eye-catching.

For example, Abbott, which was exhibiting for the first time, brought nearly 10 anti-epidemic exhibits. One of the rapid antigen detection reagents for the new coronavirus that is easy to carry and suitable for large-scale testing was first released in China.

This reagent is used by professional medical staff and can provide test results within 15 minutes.

Epson exhibited the Paper Lab dry fiber paper recycling system.

The system can turn office waste paper into reusable new paper in only three steps, and customize paper of different thickness, shape, color and size.

In addition, it can also remove ink and toner on the paper, and completely fiberize the paper to ensure information security.

The reason why multinational companies choose to participate in the exhibition is due to the fully manifested "CIIE Effect", and many "old friends" have already tasted the sweetness.

Zhu Yonghuan, vice president and general manager of Johnson Controls in China, revealed that the company signed a purchase letter of intent totaling 390 million yuan in the past two CIIEs and received thousands of customer inquiries.

Yin Zheng, Executive Vice President of Schneider Electric Global and President of China Region, also said that the company has gained a lot from participating in the CIIE. The number of contracts signed last year increased by nearly 20% compared with the first one.

Such a significant benefit is of course very attractive to "newcomers".

The deeper reason is that as the first country to control the epidemic and restart the economy, the Chinese market is stabilizing and recovering, and showing greater vitality.

According to official data, in the third quarter of this year, the quarterly growth rate of total retail sales of consumer goods in China turned positive for the first time this year.

Among them, the total retail sales of consumer goods in September increased by 3.3% year-on-year in nominal terms, achieving positive growth for two consecutive months.

At a time when the global economy is sluggish due to the epidemic, China is undoubtedly a "safe haven" for enterprises.

In the long run, China has a population of 1.4 billion and more than 400 million middle-income groups. Cumulative imports of goods in the next 10 years are expected to exceed US$22 trillion, and cumulative service imports in the next five years are expected to exceed US$2.5 trillion.

In addition, China has proposed to build a new development pattern in which domestic and international cycles are the mainstay and the domestic and international dual cycles promote each other.

Analysts believe that this means that China will introduce more measures to promote consumption. The status of consumption in China's economic structure will only increase and not decline, and the potential will be further released.

Whether it is to hedge the impact of the epidemic in the short term or to consider long-term development, deepening China is a wise choice for companies.
