In Kuriyama-cho, Hokkaido, the candy "Large * Show Candy", which is produced only during the winter, is actively produced.

"Large * show candy" manufactured by a long-established confectionery maker in Kuriyama Town has been made since 1918, more than 100 years ago, and the temperature is 10 degrees or less so that the main ingredient, starch syrup, does not melt. It is produced and sold only during the winter season.

Production began at the factory last month, and 15 employees worked on it on the 5th.

First, syrup and sugar are boiled down at a temperature of about 120 degrees, black sesame is added, set in a special machine, and kneaded to add air.

After that, I stretched the soft candy into a square shape, cooled it for about 10 minutes to harden it, cut it into about 10 cm squares, and wrapped it by hand one by one.

The factory produces about 2000 candies a day, and work will continue until the end of February next year.

Kaoru Terui, the factory manager, said, "When you chew in the cold season, the starch syrup melts in your mouth and is very delicious. I want you to enjoy the unique taste and texture."

"Large * show candy" is sold at supermarkets all over Hokkaido.

* In the show, the "meaning" of "嘗" is "sweet"
