The two entrepreneurs in the field of coffee, Ibrahim Al-Mallouhi and Abdullah Al-Muhairi, stressed during the evening presented by Maryam Al-Masoud that their passion for coffee since childhood was behind their entry into the field of commercial projects in this field, expressing their keenness to introduce the youth and society to coffee and its various flavors and related information. Ibrahim Al Mallouhi, the owner of the espresso lab for specialty coffee, who has the nicknames "gourmet" and "barista", said that his passion for coffee passed to him through his mother and grandmother, and he started at the age of nine when his grandmother taught him how to prepare, prepare and pour coffee, and for years His studies felt a desire to express this passion, until he was introduced to specialized coffee cafes in New York in 2001, so he embarked on a journey to learn about the details of this field through travel, research and study, then this culminated in the opening of his café in the design district in Dubai, before opening a branch Another in Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi.

Al-Mallouhi explained that the word "barista" may not be Arabic and did not spread in the UAE until a few years ago, but it is as an old and well-known profession in Emirati society and heritage, which is the coffee maker or "coffee shop", indicating that any person can be a "barista" if He has the talent and the ability to prepare coffee with passion, and he can develop this passion by enrolling in specialized courses in this field, and if he wants to transform his hobby into a profession and industry, he must have a message or vision that he can present through his project.

He indicated that his dream is to present a new and different perspective on specialty coffee, and to launch "espresso lab" from the UAE to the world.

Explaining that tasting and specializing in coffee requires adherence to a special lifestyle that depends on a diet in which it avoids sugar and spicy foods, and refrains from eating hot food.

Success factors

For his part, Abdullah Al Muhairi, who established a project to provide consultancy in the field of establishing cafes and serving specialty coffee, indicated that he participated as a jury member in the coffee competition organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, last year, and a special coffee shop was opened at Hamdan bin Mohammed University. In Dubai, he indicated that his relationship with coffee began during his studies in Melbourne, Australia, which is famous for its specialty coffee cafes, and when he returned to the UAE, he found that this type of coffee shop is not widespread, so he decided to convert his passion for coffee into a profession.

Regarding the success factors of projects related to the coffee industry, Al Muhairi indicated that the most important factor is the project owner’s knowledge of coffee and all the information associated with it from its cultivation until it reaches the consumer, and at the same time he has knowledge of the market and trade, and he works with a team that has knowledge of the field, preferably His members have worked in coffee farms before, and that he works to present his project according to his own vision without imitating others in the market, expressing his hope that the owners of the specialized cafes in the Emirates will sponsor initiatives to support coffee farmers, to continue their work and production, and stick to forming good relationships Among them, it is based on cooperation, exchanging experiences and praising the successes of others.
