Abu Hammam began by talking about her experience of being married and having one child, noting that the beginning of her journey was while she was in Canada and returning to the Emirates, where she felt the presence of something strange in the breast, so she reviewed one of the doctors who confirmed to her that these emergency changes are water blocks that do not pose a danger to her. And that many women have these same symptoms.
She told Emirates Today: “These symptoms remained with her, and she told her husband about the matter, and she returned again, accompanied by her husband, to the doctor, who confirmed again to her that there was no danger, but her feeling kept telling her that there was something wrong, and she refused the result confirmed by the doctor. This prompted her to refer her for an ultrasound examination, which showed a strange mass in the breast.
She indicated that after the doctor was diagnosed with a period of time, she traveled to Jordan on a visit, and checked the doctors who assured her that there were no cancerous masses, but she was not convinced of the results because she had persistent symptoms, so she immediately after her return to the Emirates made other laboratory tests that showed strange lumps, so she went to Dubai Hospital, She conducted other examinations and the doctor took a sample of breast tissue for laboratory testing, where it was found that a cancerous tumor was found.
And she reported that upon hearing the news, she entered into a state of sadness and crying from the shock, and she was praying to God Almighty to provide her with patience and strength to endure, and the shock of her husband was greater, but he held himself and stood by her side from the beginning until the end and he remained morally supportive, and made her feel that she was not infected with the disease .
She indicated that she initially refused the principle of chemotherapy, due to the changes that accompany the skin and hair loss, and turned to herbs that brought about positive changes, but were not sufficient, which made her agree to undergo chemotherapy, which required her to conduct 16 sessions, the size was The mass then is 2 cm and a quarter, it decreased after the first six sessions to one and a half, and after 12 sessions it reached half a cm, and completely disappeared after the session
The 16 also performed a surgical cleaning procedure, to ensure a full recovery.
She indicated that she joined the volunteer work team at the Friends of Cancer Patients Association, during her treatment stages of the disease that afflicted her, while receiving the 12th dose of chemotherapy, as she was surprised by the arrival of a delegation from the association and presented her with a gift, and told her stories about women who faced the disease and defeated it, What encouraged her and strengthened her hopes for recovery.
She explained that "the Friends of Cancer Patients Association has played a major role in educating community members about breast cancer, and has provided many works, whether financially or morally, for women with this disease, and communicates with them constantly, and implants seeds of hope in their souls, with the aim of enhancing the chances of recovery and victory over it."
