China News Service, Guangzhou, November 5 (Cai Minjie, He Junjie) A 7-year-old boy in Guangdong was burned by his biological father and may face amputation. Recently, it has attracted social concern.

The reporter saw the boy at the Southern Hospital of Southern Medical University on the 5th. Ma Jun, the attending physician of the burn department of the hospital, said that the depth of the burn wound on the boy’s hands and forearms reached the level of third-degree burns, and there were large areas of skin and subcutaneous soft tissue Infection and necrosis may be at risk of amputation.

At present, the treatment is mainly on the restoration of the whole body nutrition level, and the first operation has been carried out.

In the ward of the burn department, a 7-year-old boy is lying sideways on a hospital bed. He is skinny and his upper arm is as thin as his peer’s wrist. There are many old scars the size of cigarette butts on his chest and back. There are also wounds on his face, his injured arm and The palm was wrapped in a thick bandage.

"Sometimes I don't speak, and my mother thinks I'm dumb, so she tells my father to hit me and scald my hands with boiling water." The boy pointed to the wound on his body and said, "This is tied to a rope and burned with a cigarette butt. Sometimes I beat them with a stick after the ironing. I don’t want to live with them, I want to be with my grandparents."

"It hurts to see him like this now. He was so cute when he was a child, but now he has become like this." The boy's uncle Huang Huajin said. The boy lives with his parents in Huizhou, and other relatives and family members live in Maoming all year round.

He recalled the incident: On October 27, the boy’s father posted a picture of the boy to the WeChat group. “At that time, he saw that the nephew in the photo was very injured, so he rushed to the local hospital in Huizhou, Guangdong to see him. Feeling uncomfortable, I went to Nanfang Hospital to be hospitalized.” Later, considering that there was no one to take care of the boy, he was transferred to the hospital in his hometown of Maoming. On the evening of October 31, due to the deterioration of his condition, he was transferred back to Nanfang Hospital from the Maoming hospital.

Ma Jun said that when he was sent in on the evening of October 31, the boy was accompanied by severe malnutrition in addition to local injuries. "After the child came back, the wound worsened and the two upper limbs became very red and swollen. The infection worsened, and obvious inflammatory swelling appeared. During the debridement, we found that his left forearm muscle group and some other soft tissues under the skin including important blood vessels had been infected and necrotic, especially the left hand was more serious." Ma Jun said, Judging from the wound, it should be a flame burn, and the child may be at risk of amputation after surgery.

Ma Jun said that after partial debridement treatment, the infection was controlled to a certain extent.

At present, supportive treatment is mainly carried out on the recovery of systemic nutritional levels and conditions. Some nutritional indicators are gradually recovering, and the mental condition gradually improves. Follow-up systemic nutritional support will be continued to improve immunity and resistance, etc., and it will also involve the recovery of hand wounds in the future. Try to save the boy’s hands through the best treatment.

"If you are lucky, your child's hands can be kept, but the muscles, tendons, and nerves that control the movement of the fingers, wrists, and forearms are all damaged to varying degrees. Even if the hands are kept, the function of the hands will be very defective. If you look at the level of functional training in the future, you can return to taking things and doing some very simple things, but if you are engaged in some fine operations, such as writing good-looking characters, it will be more difficult." Ma Jun said that the first has been carried out. In the second operation, there will be 2 to 3 operations. The wound will be repaired by skin grafting and flap transplantation in batches.

Huang Huajin said that the medical expenses cost more than 400,000 yuan, of which more than 200,000 yuan was spent on surgery, which the family could not afford. Now he is seeking social help and has initiated an effort to raise the boy’s medical expenses. “His mother called this morning to ask about his condition. Sometimes I send a message by accident."

The reporter learned from the Huizhou police that the boy's father has been detained under criminal law and the case is under further investigation.

Liao Jianxun, a partner of Guangdong Baodian Law Firm and a well-known public interest lawyer, said that from this case, the boy’s father has been suspected of abusing the ward and may be sentenced to a fixed-term imprisonment of less than 3 years or criminal detention. The amputation caused serious injuries, and the boy’s father would also be suspected of committing a crime of intentional injury. “The boy’s father must bear criminal responsibility.”

"For this category, if the parents violate the rights of minors or abuse the minors, the local civil affairs department should bear the responsibility and temporarily supervise the minors. If the guardianship qualifications of the parents of the minors are finally cancelled, then the civil affairs department Minors can also be under long-term guardianship. According to the law, if minors are willing to live with their grandparents, they can be brought up by their grandparents according to their personal wishes.” Liao Jianxun said.
