34 ancient books from Hubei selected into the sixth batch of "National Catalog of Rare Ancient Books"

These ancient books are kept in the constant temperature and humidity library

Approved by the State Council, on October 30, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the "Sixth Batch of National Rare Ancient Books List". A total of 34 precious ancient books in Hubei Province were selected.

So far, our province has been selected into the "National Directory of Precious Ancient Books" up to 260.

Among the 34 precious ancient books selected this time, 30 are from the Hubei Provincial Library, 2 from the Wuhan Library, 1 from the Hubei Provincial Museum, and 1 from the Gucheng County Library.

The number of ancient books that can be declared and selected by provinces is becoming scarce

According to the staff of Hubei Provincial Ancient Books Protection Center, the precious ancient books selected this time are inseparable from the efforts and support of all sectors of society.

In the Northern Song Dynasty, he wrote the "Dafang Guangfo Huayan Sutra" of the Guanghui Buddhist Temple in Jinsu Mountain, which was purchased by the provincial government at the expense of the provincial library.

The Ming Jiajing block-printed "Zhu Chuanyi" and "Zhu Wengong School Mr. Changli Collection" are the old collections of Fan Xiren, a famous political figure in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and were donated to the Provincial Library by his descendants.

In addition to block copies, most of the precious ancient books selected this time are manuscripts and school-authorized copies.

For example, in the Chongzhen Mao’s Jigu Pavilion block-printed editions of "Historical Records", "Hanshu" and "Later Hanshu", the "Historical Records" belonged to Huang Pilie and Wang Feng's Sun post, Shen Shu school.

The Qing manuscript "Erya Rectification of Names" is written by Huang Kan and postscript by Zhang Binglin.

The Collected Works of Mr. Gui, the engraved copy of Weng Liangyu Yujintang in the fourth year of Wanli Period (1576), collected by Wuhan Library, was criticized and postscripted by Fang Bao.

The censorship and postscripts of these ancient books are all from well-known scholars, and they are an important basis for the selection of the relevant ancient books into the national precious ancient books list.

A number of precious manuscripts were selected, such as Sun Chengze's "Yanshanzhai Treasures Collection", Fang Xiangying's "Drafts of Ming History Biographies", Zhao Yiqing's "Annotation to the Three Kingdoms", Ye Mingfeng's "Qiaoxi Miscellaneous", Sun Xingyan's "Spring and Autumn Period" Yang Shoujing, "The Collection of Xie Youpan".

In addition, the lacquer manuscript "Vajra Prajna Paramita Sutra" collected in the sixth year of Ming Zhengde (1511) in the Gucheng County Library was also selected.

It is worth mentioning that the movable type three-color overprint "Puhupu" in the 9th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1829) in the Hubei Provincial Library has only been handed down to the world. This type of three-color printing was discovered for the first time, so the National Center for the Protection of Ancient Books sent experts Come to Han to check the book.

The staff member introduced that in recent years, with the in-depth development of the protection of ancient books across the country and the continuous release of the list of precious ancient books, the number of ancient books that can be declared and selected by provinces has become scarce.

Compared with the second and third batches of the State Council’s release of thousands of national precious ancient books, a total of 752 were released this time, and it is not easy for our province to be selected for more than 30 books.

The preservation of ancient books is a long and arduous task

According to Yan Jinghui, Director of the Department of Historical Documents of the Wuhan Library, the Ming edition of the ancient book "Chun Qiu Zuo Zhuan without Volume" selected by the library this time is imitation of the Song Dynasty, divided into upper and lower columns, with notes on the eyebrows; gold inlaid jade outfits, Liu Changrun postscript .

Liu Changrun is a native of Hanyang, Hubei, and a bibliophile in Wuhan.

His collection was placed in the Wuhan Library in the 1960s, and when Liu Changrun's book was later returned, he was moved by the sincerity of the Wuhan Library and made a special postscript to present the book to the Wuhan Library.

Another Wuhan Library was selected as an ancient book "Mr. Gui's Collected Works 32 Volumes Appendix 1 Volume", which is a block-printed copy of Weng Liangyu Yujintang in the fourth year of Wanli 4th year of Ming Dynasty (1576).

This full writing board is exquisite, and it is a famous engraving of the book from the early Wanli period.

The author Gui Youguang is the backbone of the Tang and Song School, and his writing has a great influence.

The book was criticized by Fang Baomei, a well-known scholar in the Qing Dynasty, and Fang's postscript at the back of the book gave a detailed evaluation of the book's literary value.
