Study: Sexually transmitted infections on the rise in the pandemic
The Ministry of Health has published this Tuesday its updated report on the evolution of the pandemic in our country, which shows
18,669 new infections in the last day
.
Catalonia has not been able to update its data due to technical problems.
This is the worst figure for a Tuesday in this second wave.
A week ago, Health registered 18,418 infections;
and makes two, 13,873.
Even so, it represents a slight improvement to the data provided in the latest official counts.
Specifically, last Friday a record of confirmed cases was broken since the second wave began (25,595) In this way, the total number of people infected since March
rises to 1,259,366
.
Of the almost 20,000 positives,
5,141 are diagnostic tests performed in the last 24 hours
(the rest correspond to previous days whose result had not yet been reported).
Most of them are located in the Basque Country (932), Aragon (621) and Catalonia (531).
The cumulative incidence (AI) - contagions per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days - continues to exceed 500 infected.
In this sense, the communities that are of greatest concern are
Melilla, Navarra and Aragón, the three with a rate above 1,000
(1,384, 1,182 and 1,119 infections, respectively).
Other regions above the national average are Ceuta (852), Castilla y León (820), La Rioja (764), Catalonia (748), the Basque Country (655), Murcia (576), Extremadura (568), Andalusia (561) and Castilla La Mancha (538).
The official count has also added
238 new deaths
since yesterday to the global count, which reaches 36,496.
Of course, deaths in residences are not yet included in this figure.
With a death date in the last week, Health has 832 deaths.
Andalusia and Castilla y León are the regions that have accumulated the most of them by communicating

Hospitalized patients double in a month
To date, 19,943 patients are admitted to the country.
More than half of them correspond to Catalonia (4,365), Andalusia (3,140) and Madrid (2,989)

Hospitalizations have almost doubled in a month.
Specifically, compared to these almost 20,000 infected, on October 2 (the 3 fell on Saturday and the data is not updated on weekends) Health notified a total of 10,372.
Regarding new admissions, 4,980 people with coronavirus have been hospitalized in the last seven days (on Monday, 5,019).
The number of hospitalized patients registered by Andalusia and Castilla y León in this period of time is especially alarming: 821 the first and 785 the second.
They are figures far removed from the rest of the communities.
Aragon is in third place with 460 new entries in one week.
Of these 4,980 patients,
369 have been transferred to intensive care
in the same period of time and 76 since yesterday.

Regarding the healthcare capacity of hospitals, the average number of beds occupied by patients with coronavirus in Spain, not including other pathologies, is 16.24%.
Intensive care beds show a higher percentage: 29.17%.
Melilla and La Rioja are the regions with the highest percentage in this hospital unit, with a disturbing 57% and 56%, respectively.
Aragon, very closely, scores 48%.
Other communities above 40% are Ceuta (47%), Catalonia (42%) and Navarra (40%).
The pandemic in Europe
At the European level,
Spain is still in third place in number of infections
, after France, which reaches a total of 1,466,433 and Russia, whose global figure rises to 1,655,034 confirmed cases.
The United Kingdom has also exceeded one thousand confirmed cases since yesterday (1,053,864).
This country also continues to lead with a total of 46,853, followed by Italy (39,059), France (37,435) and Spain (36,495).
Regarding the incidence of the virus in European countries that have accumulated a greater number of confirmed cases, Belgium continues in the first place with a runaway rate that exceeds
1,800 positives per 100,000 inhabitants
(1,837).
Trailing behind are the Czech Republic (1,515), Switzerland (823), France (799), the Netherlands (714) and Spain (527).
