Reproduce the "old-fashioned procession" of the Ryukyu Kingdom era Conducted for the first time in 3 years November 3, 15:21

An "old-fashioned procession" that reproduced the gorgeous procession of the king and queen during the Ryukyu Kingdom era was held in Naha City on the 3rd and 3 years after the fire at Shuri Castle last year.

The "old-fashioned procession" reproduces the state of the king's visit to the temple on New Year's Day in hopes of the well-being of the country and the abundance of five grains during the Ryukyu Kingdom era. It takes place in and around Shuri Castle.

However, due to heavy rain last year, it was canceled due to the fire at Shurijo Castle that occurred just before, so it was held for the first time in 3 days and 3 years.

The king and queen appeared from the shrine gate in gorgeous red costumes, and then walked around Shuri Castle for about 40 minutes with their vassals.

Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the number of participants in the procession has decreased to 20 people, which is about one tenth of the average year, and we are parading around Shuri Castle to avoid a large number of people gathering along the road. Was not done and the scale was greatly reduced.

Even so, the visitors enjoyed taking pictures of the procession that took place for the first time in three years.

A woman in her thirties in Naha said, "I'm glad that the air that sank last year due to the fire at Shurijo Castle was brightened by the procession."
