The second wave is rising and could soon overwhelm the hospitals of Hauts-de-France.

Transfers of patients from Hauts-de-France to Germany and other French regions are now envisaged in the coming days.

"Transfers to other regions, or even other countries, will help to reduce this pressure and will sometimes be essential," Frédéric Valletoux, president of the French Hospital Federation (FHF), said on Tuesday.

Like Hauts-de-France, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region could also be concerned.

These evacuations could take place "in the next ten days", he said, the health authorities predicting "a point of saturation proven within ten days" in the intensive care units.

Brittany in great demand to welcome patients from other regions

Transfers of patients have already taken place between establishments in the same region, "particularly in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes", and between regions, "Brittany being the most in demand" for these operations, carried out "for the moment by aerial ”, recalled Zaynab Riet, General Delegate of the FHF.

The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, underlined Monday on RTL that "around forty transfers had already been made last week", of which "a certain number were made before the situation was too critical (...) , so as to do things in anticipation, building on the experience of the first wave ”.
