Tests to detect Covid-19 will be set up in French airports but not for everyone.

“Mandatory” and rapid, they will be deployed from November 7 for passengers arriving from abroad, with the exception of those coming from European States, announced Monday the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili.

"Travelers will be tested on arrival and will have their result a few tens of minutes later, unless they have prior to their departure a PCR test of less than 72 hours," said the minister adding that for some countries these tests are already required before boarding.

Antigenic tests, which perform less well than current PCR tests, do not require laboratory analysis, and the result can be known in 10 to 30 minutes.

"PCR tests on arrival have been in place since July at" Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports, their ADP manager also specified.

Avoid quarantines

The air transport sector is strongly calling for the large-scale deployment of screening tests at airports to avoid quarantine measures on arrival, amid a collapse in air traffic due to traffic restrictions put in place everywhere in the world.

"Regarding the tests at the start, it is not yet possible to commit to a date", also specified ADP.

However, the group “received this weekend the notification in principle of their authorization but not yet the formal agreement of the Regional Health Agency”.
