TF1

  • During

    Mask Singer's

    third broadcast

on TF1, Dave and Valérie Damidot were unmasked.

  • The singer was hiding under the Owl costume.

  • For

    20 Minutes

, Dave looks back on an adventure that amused him a lot.

Dave was therefore hiding under

Mask Singer's

Owl costume

.

On Saturday night, the singer was unmasked for the third show, but viewers, and even Kev Adams, had already guessed his identity a long time ago.

Because of his accent?

Too obvious clues?

Dave however struggled to hide his style and identity with covers of Adele, Elvis Presley or Umberto Tozzi… Younger viewers will no doubt have learned of the cult singer's existence on Saturday night, and Dave is delighted.

He agreed to answer the

20 Minutes

questions

exclusively.

What do you remember from your Mask Singer experience?

It was nice ?

It was Owl itself… I hardly remember anything but the positive!

Almost ?

Yeah, the only negative thing was that I really felt too old to do this.

There are still kilos of costume, especially on the head.

It's very physical.

At one point, I said to myself: “What else have I accepted?

The other thing that cost me was that I couldn't speak.

On television, I like to do the mariole, talk and react.

There it was forbidden.

And then my costume was quite severe.

As a samurai, you can't clown

Did you choose your costume in reference to your husband, the lyricist Patrick Loiseau?

No, it's a reference to my mother.

I explained it on the show but as a recent poll revealed, people find me more and more likable but understand less and less what I'm saying ... A syllable in my mother's name sounds like the sound " owl ”, owl in English.

You chose songs in English and even in Italian, but Kev Adams recognized your accent at one point ...

A friend who is a professor of philology at the Sorbonne explained to me that the timbre changes according to the language.

Since I have a very recognizable tone and accent, I tried to hide this.

For the cover of Elvis Presley, I tried to sing like him… But I have trouble erasing my tremolos, I don't sing straight.

Usually, when we sing, we try to be recognized to sell records afterwards!

Is it rather flattering to be recognized even when masked?

Probably yes.

Singing is still my job so that was the most enjoyable part of it all.

There is a high proportion of very young viewers in front of Mask Singer.

Maybe they discovered you on this occasion ...

I believe they already knew me from my recent participation in

Incredible Talent

.

Before this show, when the grandmothers came to me, the kids would say “who is it?

".

Now they recognize me a bit.

We see you less often on television these days.

Doesn't that amuse you anymore?

Yes, of course, but room for young people!

I always enjoy watching television, I work a lot with the Melody channel.

I have a few canned shows for Christmas too.

Unfortunately there are no longer any live music shows with musicians on TV.

It seems that you are going to present the next edition of Eurovision with Laurence Boccolini.

It is true ?

I don't know where this rumor came from but I would love to!

In any case, neither Laurence nor I know about it at the moment.

I asked Marc-Olivier Fogiel for permission.

He's okay with me doing this infidelity to him.

After my duet with him, I would love to work with Laurence Boccolini.

In addition, she won Mask Singer last year, we would have memories to share.
