British actor and producer Sean Connery, famous around the world for being the first actor to play the role of James Bond in cinema, passed away at the age of 90.
During his career, he won numerous awards, including an Oscar for his role in
The Untouchables
in 1987, a British Academy Film Award for best actor for his portrayal of the monk Guillaume de Baskerville in
The Name of the Rose as
well as two Golden Globes.
Proud of his origins, he regularly displayed his support for Scottish independence.
