Prime Minister Jean Castex and Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly are going this Saturday to Rouen then Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray (Seine-Maritime), where Father Hamel was assassinated in 2016, to discuss with the Catholic community and note the Sentinel system reinforced since the Nice attack.

The head of government, who will arrive around 4 p.m. at Rouen cathedral, on the eve of the Catholic feast of All Saints Sunday and Monday, will meet with Mgr Lebrun, archbishop of Rouen.

Jean Castex and Florence Parly will also see the elements of the Sentinel device, whose deployment has increased to 7,000 soldiers across the territory against 3,000 previously.

A time of meditation in front of the monument in homage to Father Hamel

The Prime Minister and the Minister of the Armed Forces will then go to the church of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, where they will observe a time of meditation in front of the monument in homage to Father Hamel, assassinated in 2016 by two jihadists.

This trip comes after the Nice attack and two weeks after the assassination of Samuel Paty, a teacher beheaded in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines) for showing his students caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
